Castlemagner – Duhallow Junior A Football Champions 2024

Castlemagner secured their eighth divisional title by defeating Knocknagree with a commanding ten-point victory in the Ashgrove Renewables Duhallow Junior A Football Championship final on Sunday at Lismire, despite challenging weather conditions.

The defending champions dominated from the opening moments. Conor O'Sullivan opened the scoring with two quick points, setting the tone early. Knocknagree's response came through Daniel Murphy's 12th-minute point, but Castlemagner's superiority was demonstrated when goalkeeper Damien Browne made a crucial save before Conor Murphy quickly followed up to flick the rebound into the net. Shortly after, Danny Linehan's shot fortuitously dropped into the net.

Though Knocknagree rallied with four unanswered points before halftime to narrow the gap to 2-4 to 0-5, Castlemagner maintained their composure in the second half. Linehan contributed two crucial points as captain while Castlemagner managed errors under Knocknagree's intensified pressure.

The standout performer was Conor O'Sullivan, recognised as man of the match for his instrumental role in steering his team toward another impressive championship chapter.
