Castlemagner GAA club achieved a historic victory by winning the Castlecor Potatoes Duhallow Junior A Football Championship, ending a 62-year championship drought since their last title in 1961.
The team demonstrated swift, fluid football characterised by rapid passing and precise scoring. Despite Knocknagree's efforts, they could not match Castlemagner's relentless intensity and performance throughout the match.
The competition intensified as the game progressed, with Castlemagner gradually dominating their opponents. This triumph also served as redemption following their loss to Knocknagree in a 1966 final that required a replay.
Captain Donal Gayer lifted the silverware amid jubilation from supporters. The victory provides momentum as the club advances to the county championship quarter-final against the Carbery champions.
